Empowering the Patient: Education and Prevention

I have worked in healthcare for almost 20 years. During this time, I have learned that patient education and preventative medicine are two very important factors in helping patients stay as healthy as possible. Education begins at our very first appointment. I encourage questions during office visits and provide ample literature to help the patient understand the disease process and treatment options. Together, the patient and I create personalized treatment plans that will help minimize sick days and increase overall health. Education empowers the patient with knowledge to be able to make better lifestyle choices. Combining the best medical treatment with healthier lifestyle choices leads to less sick days, less medicine and most of all, Wellness.

Ilana Stone graduated from the University of Central Florida’s nursing program in 1994. For 12 years she worked in adult critical care medicine at both Orlando Regional Healthcare and Florida Hospital. She completed her Masters Degree in Nursing in 2006 and joined a local allergy and asthma group in 2007. She has been happily providing excellent allergy and asthma care to our community since then.
