The pulmonary function test (or spirometry) is a test to measure the lung function. This test involves blowing into a plastic tube. The lung volume is analyzed and the meaurements are used to help diagnose many different types of lung diseases such as asthma. Also this test is used to monitor for adequate control of the lung disease and needs to be checked periodically. Your Allergy doctor may order this test during your office visit.
