Diagnostic and Laboratory procedures which may be performed to diagnose and monitor
your condition:
- Pulmonary function test (breathing capacity test) to determine the efficiency
of air flow in the lungs.
- Skin testing to determine your allergies to environmental grasses, trees, weeds,
pets, foods, certain antibiotics, local anesthetics and insect venoms.
- Patch testing test to agents in your home or work environment and also to lotions,
perfumes and cosmetics.
- Rapid Strep Screen to find out if you have streptococcus throat infection that
would require an antibiotic.
- Skin Biopsy to be sent to the lab to find out the cause of the skin rash or inflammation.
- Tympanograms to determine the mobility of the eardrums.
- Oral challenge to determine food or antibiotic allergy.
- Allergy Shots/Vaccines (Immunotherapy) to decreased your sensitivity to
environmental allergens.
- RAST or Immunocap blood testing for allergies if unable to perform skin testing.
- Blood Tests to diagnose immune system disease
- Rhinolaryngoscopy which consists of a flexible small tube inserted via the nose to further
evaluate the inside of the nose, throat and sinuses.
